Fiber Optic Packaging Engineer
SUMMARY: As Optical Packaging Engineer, you will support accounst by working with the customer to enable new product designs utilizing the manufacturing capabilities of The Group. This will involve translating customer design requirements into physical package form taking into account electrical, thermal and mechanical design rules and iterating these with both the customer engineers as well as The Group's factory engineers to arrive at a solution that encompasses the technical, business and time to market needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:
The Fiber Optic / Mechanical Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing optical component packaging from prototype all the way through final manufacturing design,
Responsible for documentations associated with the substrate design release for tooling with the substrate suppliers as part of the design closure. Work on producibility through incorporation of DFM practices.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: At least 3-5 five years of experience in the design and implementation of multilayer BGA substrate technology for support of single or multi-chip Flip Chip package constructions. Proficient in Cadence APD and SIP tools as well as AutoCAD. Must be detail oriented in design specifications, implementation, reviews with customers. An understanding of the influence of physical design parameters affecting electrical/ thermal performance of packaging technologies is desired. Knowledge of flip chip assembly processes is a plus.WIll work on fiber optic devices for applications ranging from telecommunications to medical. Fluency in English and good communication skills are required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BS in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering or equivalent. Candidates must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must enjoy working with people and be able to make sales presentations and proposals. Good organizational and computer skills with the ability to summarize weekly activity in report format will be a requirement for this position.
