Environmental Coordinator
Job Description
PURPOSE
The position of Environmental Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of environmental permits and amendments (including water and air), coordination of Environmental Management Systems (EMS), providing operational support, preparing regular reports for all facilities as required, and supporting the day to day environmental and compliance operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
- Coordinate and ensure that all required environmental monitoring and recordkeeping at the facility occurs.
- Interact with the plant personnel and company management to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance concerns, implement compliance requirements, and act as a technical resource.
- Function as an integral member of the ISO14001 support team to gain/maintain certification.
- Identify issues that require specific research and study and address problems that limit the plant's ability to meet permit limits or compliance targets.
- Perform statistical analysis, prepare reports, maintain appropriate compliance records, and file required documents with various regulatory agencies within stated deadlines.
- Follow up on actions implemented to correct or improve situations, especially when programs involve testing, new materials, or process modifications.
- Provide engineering solutions to environmental issues, including permitting, pollution prevention, environmental regulation compliance, training, inspections, reporting, auditing, and contractor compliance to assure continuous improvement and optimization.
- Provide training to plant personnel on key environmental issues, environmental requirements and compliance.
- Assist on plant-specific or company-specific environmental issues, as needed.
- Other duties, as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
The Environmental Coordinator reports to the Area Environment and Public Affairs Manager and will work closely with peers in the environmental organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Science, Environmental Management or related discipline
Required Work Experience: 3-5 years
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software
