Engineering Manager

Purpose of Position:

Manufacturing Engineering resources in achieving Plant, Business, and Corporate objectives in the areas of cost, quality, safety, growth, and new products. This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Long-Range Technology Plan for the Plant.

• Provide production departments with the required technical support and resources to make continuous and step change improvements.

• Works with the Product Development and Pilot Line groups to assure successful implementation of new products in manufacturing.

• Project management of major Manufacturing Engineering projects in the Plant.

• Work with production departments to implement process monitoring to achieve improvements in OEE.

• Renew/replace production equipment including the installation of new molding technologies.

• Develop permanent corrective action for quality fixes as required.

• Achieve "Readiness" on AME assessment for sections under Engineering responsibility

• Manufacturing strategy: development and implementation of technology roadmap.

• Resource allocation of Plant Engineering resources.

• Selection and development of plant engineering organization.

• Use of external resources to achieve Plant objective

• Assure new or changed processes comply applicable quality and regulatory system requirements.

• Subject matter expert for HSE Management of Change process

• Supervises the Performance Excellence organization and the use of improvement tools (DMAIC, MEE, Lean, etc.)

• Manages the Cost Reduction portfolio for the plant and works with the plant leaders to build a 3-year cost reduction opportunity "funnel"

• Ensures robust receivership is provided to the Mfg. departments for new products and equipment that are managed by resources external to the plant

• Manages the plant project portfolio (priority is set by the Site Leadership Team)

• Manages the capital plan for the plant, ensures that spend timing is forecasted accurately and updates / interfaces with Division Engineering on capital spend and timing

• Is responsible to plan, set and manage the Plant Engineering department budget

Required Experiences / Education:

• B.S. in Engineering discipline

• 20 years’ experience in multiple manufacturing processes

• Progressive responsibilities in engineering and engineering leadership including engineering department supervisor experience.

• Experience with multiple manufacturing processes.

• Engineering and/or biological production experience. 

• Demonstrated track record of growing talent.
